I've been racking my brain lately trying to think of the best way to communicate educational information to people....I spend countless in my office talking to patients about how to live a healthy lifestyle, maintain wellness, and how to improve levels of this while reducing risks of that...I just keep thinking, there has to be a better way!?! How can I streamline information so it is readily accessible, not just in an office for 10 minutes, but at home at your own convenience when you are ready to absorb it. But would I just want it to be health related? NO. For two reasons. 1. it would be just too boring (you wouldn't want to read it and I wouldn't want to write it) and 2. People are more than just the sum of their cholesterol level and pap smear result! Real change in health and wellness begins with who we are at home- the foods we love to go out and eat on a Friday night with our boo, the lifestyles and traditions we grew up with (mmmm macaroni and cheese made with TWO blocks of Velveeta on Thanksgiving Day), and the craziness of our daily routine that sometimes (OK..most of the time) prevents us from getting to the gym..So after much thought- here it is. A blog for women (mostly). A forum to learn about women's wellness, fitness, lifestyle changes, diet, etc...Some of you may be patients, friends, family, or strangers..regardless we are all in the same boat... busy, complicated women who are just continually trying to become a better version of ourselves. Whether you want to improve your eating habits, fitness level, cooking ability, or even your ability to apply red lipstick without smudges (who can?) it is something that will take work and patience...but you can do it!!
We women go to extremes with our goals sometimes. We have a day where we eat junk food and feel bad about ourselves and then vow to eat right- but instead of maybe just cutting out junk..Oh No..we decide that we are going to go all Gweneth Paltrow paleo crazy and never even look at a potato again..That's where I hope to instill some insight and encouragement..it's not about being strict or extreme. It's about making simple easy changes that can add up to big outcomes. Take it one day at a time... Baby Steps...
